GATE 2019 Registration Starts from September 1st: What’s New in GATE 2019

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras will conduct GATE 2019. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is National level entrance examination which is very popular test in India which is conducted for the students who aspired to get admission into Master’s Degree Course offered by the top reputed universities and colleges in India.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

GATE 2019 Registration

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, has released the GATE 2019 notification on July 2018. The exam will be conducted on Saturday, 2nd, 3rd, 9th & 10th February 2019. The online application process for GATE 2019 will commence from September 1st, and the last date to submit the same without the late fee is 21st September 2018.

GATE 2019 Registration Process

1) To register for GATE 2019 entrance examination, candidates need the following

  • Valid e-mail address
  • Mobile Number

2) Students should note that only one person can register with one e-mail address.

3) Once registered, candidate receives a GOAPS Enrolment ID.

Steps to Apply GATE 2019

1) Login using the GOAPS enrolment id and password

2) Fill the Application form with required information and choose a city for exam centre.

3) Choose the paper which to the candidate intends to give the exam.

4) Upload the necessary documents along with photograph and signature/thumb impression.

5) Pay the application fees as mentioned below by Debit Card/Net Banking/e-challan.

6) Fill the Application form with required information and choose a city for exam centre from GATE 2019 Exam Cities List.

New Changes Introduced in GATE 2019

  • There are some major changes have been done for the GATE 2019 examination, which is mentioned below:
  • The GATE 2019 examination will be conducted for total 24 papers. A new paper Statistics (Code – ST) has been added.
  • Students will also get an opportunity to submit the application form after the due date.
  • Candidates can apply online after the last date for an extended period on payment of a late fee. The late fee is Rs 500 if candidates apply after September 21 and October 1, 2018. For candidates appearing for the exam at foreign centres will have to pay a late fee of 20 USD.
  • Examination for all the 24 subjects (papers) will be conducted as ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT).
  • The online examination paper will contain some questions for which numerical answers must be keyed in by the candidate using a virtual keypad. Rest of the questions will be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type.
  • The Candidates will use ONLY an on-screen virtual calculator provided for the examination.
  • A candidate can appear only in ANY ONE paper of the GATE examination.
  • GATE 2019 examinations will be held during the forenoon and afternoon sessions on 2nd, 3rd, 9th & 10th of February 2019.
  • Examination for some of the papers in GATE 2019 may be held in multiple sessions.
  • However, a candidate can appear for the examination in one session ONLY.
