The Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering, also known as GATE, is a national exam that selects engineers for admission to M.Tech programs at IITs, NITs, and IIITs as well as for PSU recruitment. IISc Bengaluru has released the schedule and dates for the GATE 2024 exam. In order to provide admission to a variety of postgraduate and doctorate programs offered by IITs, etc., GATE 2024 will be held.

On August 5, 2023, the GATE 2024 exam announcement was released. The application for GATE 2024 is accessible till August 30, 2023. Until October 12, 2023, candidates may submit their completed application forms without incurring a late charge. Students may register and pay the application fee through October 20, 2023, if they pay the late fee.

The ability to amend your GATE 2024 application in terms of category, paper, and exam city is now available from November 19 to November 24, 2023, for an extra cost. The online mode enables the correcting option.

The applicants who successfully register for the exam can now access their GATE 2024 admit cards. Downloads will be available on January 4, 2024. The candidates must then go to the official website and use the candidate log-in to download their individual GATE admission cards.

On February 3, 4, and 10, as well as on February 11, 2024, the CBT exam for GATE 2024 will take place. The test is computer-based and lasts for three hours.

GATE  2024 Eligibility Criteria

IISc Bangalore will publish the GATE Eligibility Criteria 2024 along with the official notification. Candidates who are in their third year or above of a degree program, as well as those who have previously completed any government-approved degree program in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, or the Arts, are eligible to fill out the GATE Application Form. Moreover, those who hold an M.Pharma or BDS degree are also eligible to apply for the exam.

Steps to apply in GATE 2024-

GATE Registration: Sign up as a "New User" and follow the instructions in the guide. With the login credentials you provided, you will be able to access GOAPS upon a successful registration.

Fill  GATE Application  form 2024. Enter your GOAPS Enrollment ID and password to log on, then begin filling out the application, which asks for information about your personal history, educational background, and other things.

Upload Required Documents: In accordance with the guidelines, upload the image, signature, eligibility certificate, SC/ST certificate, and PwD certificate.

GATE Application Fee Payment: You may use a credit card, debit card, or net banking to make your payment.

GATE  2024 Admit card

The GATE Hall Ticket 2024 is now available online via the website, according to the organization. By logging into GOAPS, candidates can download their admission card.

Students will not receive their GATE 2024 Hall Ticket via mail or any other offline method. On January 4, 2024, candidates will have access to their admit cards. Entering the login credentials will allow you to download the hall tickets.

Details about applicants and exam centers, including name, roll number, category, father's name, gender, exam day and time, exam center location, etc., are included on the admit card. Before obtaining a printout copy of their admission card, candidates are required to verify their card. Only clearly visible photographs of the candidate's signature and photo will be accepted on the GATE Admit Card 2024.

General Aptitude (GA): Common For All Papers (Compulsory)

The General Aptitude Test syllabus will be common & compulsory for all papers. The topics will be as given here:

  • Verbal Ability: English grammar, sentence completion, verbal analogies, word groups, instructions, critical reasoning and verbal deduction.

Duration: Students have three hours to complete the assignment.

Exam Mode: The GATE 2024 exam will be administered online.

Types of questions- There will be three different types of questions: multiple-choice, multiple-select, and numerical answer type (NAT).

Papers: There are now thirty subjects and papers total, with the addition of one new topic this year.

Section Types: The question paper will have two sections: General Aptitude (GA) and Subject (chosen by the contestant).

No of Questions: There are 65 total questions, comprising 10 GA and 55 Subject questions.

Marking Scheme: 1 and 2 marks will be awarded for certain questions.

Negative marking: MCQs deduct 1/3 of a mark for each of the 1 and 2 marks, respectively. Negative marking will not be applied to MSQ and NAT-type questions.
