The exam dates for the JIPMER PG 2024 January session were recently conducted on November 5th, 2023. The exam dates are yet to be announced for JIPMER PG 2024 for the July session. This exam is usually conducted via INI CET or INI SS exams. JIPMER PG 2024 is a national-level entrance examination that is held by the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) twice a year, in January and July. Since the exam is conducted twice a year it is beneficial for those candidates who had missed one session and hence can appear in the next session.

JIPMER PG 2024 – Key Features

The JIPMER PG Entrance exam 2024 is quite mandatory for those candidates willing to take admission in various medical courses at the PG level. JIPMER is an autonomous institution, and it has the power to set up its own system, academic curriculum, and evaluation process. It doesn't fall under the authority of MCI (NMC) and hence candidates who want to pursue their higher education in this institution will not be able to avail of direct admission.

Following is a list of some of the key features of the JIPMER PG 2024 exam.

  • This exam is conducted into two categories – INI CET and INI SS exam.
  • There are two sessions – January and July, in which this exam is being conducted by the JIPMER institute.
  • It is a computerized based exam with 200 MCQ questions.
  • The time limit for completing this exam is 3 hours.
  • There is no negative marking in the exam for unattended questions. However, for every incorrect answer, 1/3 marks will be deducted.
  • If an answer is correct, then a candidate will score 1 mark.
  • The exams are usually conducted in all the AIIMS (All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences) institutions across India.
  • There are also other participating institutions such as – the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, PIMER Chandigarh, etc.
  • The fees for the General category candidates appearing for both INI CET and INR SS is INR 4,000/- while the fees for the reserved category candidates (SC/ ST) is set to INR 3,200/- for INI CET and INR 4,000/- for INI SS.
  • PWD candidates are exempted from paying application fee for appearing in these exams.

JIPMER PG 2024 – Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for JIPMER PG 2024 is categorized under two sections – INI CET and INI SS exams. It is very essential for the candidates to go through the eligibility criteria before applying for this exam.

Candidates applying through INI CET:

  • Candidates who are Indian/ NRI/ OCI/ and other nationals are eligible to apply for this exam.
  • Those foreign candidates who are already chosen or nominated by the Government will be exempted from this exam.
  • Candidates must have completed their MBBS degree which is recognized by MCI or NMC.
  • Candidates must have completed a minimum of 12 months of internship or practical training by 31st January 2024 for the January session and 31st July 2024 for the July session.
  • General Candidates should have a minimum aggregate of 55% while a minimum aggregate of 50% is required for the reserved category candidates.
  • Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam to be held in 2024 are also eligible to apply for this exam.

Candidates applying through INI SS:

  • Candidates should have an MD or MS degree from any recognized University of MCI board.
  • Candidates belonging to the General category should not be more than 35 years old as of January 1st 2024 (for the January session) or July 1st 2023 (for the July session).
  • Candidates from the reserved categories like SC and ST are given 5 years of relaxation in age.
  • Candidates from the reserved categories like OBC are given a relaxation of 3 years in age.

JIPMER PG 2024 – Registration/Application Process

The registration and application process for JIPMER PG 2024 are completely based on online mode.

Step – 1: Candidates are required to visit the official website – https://jipmer.edu.in which is managed by the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER).

Step – 2: Candidates are then required to register themselves online through the website portal by clicking on “Basic Registration” and following the steps. After registration is done, candidates are then required to fill in the application form.

Step – 3: In the final step, candidates are then required to make the payment for the application form and save a copy for future reference.

JIPMER PG 2024 – Admit Cards

In general, JIPMER PG admit cards are released two months before the examination is conducted. The admit cards for JIPMER PG 2024 January session was released on 30th October 2024 and the admit cards for JIPMER PG 2024 July session will be released in the month of May 2024.

All the registered candidates will be able to download their admit cards from the official website of JIPMER. The candidates will be able to avail their respective admit cards through online mode only. Candidates must carry their admit cards to the venue on the day of the exam.
