WBJEE 2025 Eligibility Criteria

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB). The Common Entrance Examination will be conducted for admissions to professional undergraduate and postgraduate level courses offered in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy, Medical, Dental, and Architecture in Universities, Government Colleges as well as Self Financing Engineering & Technological Institutes in the State of West Bengal. The required qualifications and conditions to be fulfilled to participate in the entrance examination will constitute WBJEE 2025 eligibility criteria. Different categories such as nationality, age, academic qualification, domicile, and more will have to be fulfilled by the candidates.

General Eligibility Criteria of WBJEE 2025

Nationality: All candidates should be citizens of India.

Academic Qualification: The candidates should have qualified for his/her 10+2 (or equivalent) examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Computer Application as compulsory subjects.   Those candidates who will be appearing in the qualifying exam in 2021 will also be eligible to apply for WBJEE 2025.

Age Criteria: The minimum age for WBJEE 2025 candidates is 17 years as on December 31, 2025. There is no upper limit for B.Tech programs except for Marine Engineering where the upper age limit is 25 years as on December 31, 2025.

Marks Required: General category candidates should have secured an aggregate of 45% and reserved category candidates should have scored 40% to be eligible for WBJEE 2025. All candidates are required to have qualified English with at least 30% marks.

Domicile: Should be residents of West Bengal for 10 years consecutively as on December 31, 2025, OR the parents of the candidates should be permanent residents of West Bengal with a permanent residential address in the state.

WBJEE 2025 Eligibility- Domicile/Residential Requirement

Candidates seeking admission under the reserved category must have a domicile in West Bengal. Candidates must also possess a certificate as proof of their claim.

  • Candidate should be a permanent resident of the State of West Bengal for the last 10 years by December 31, 2025.
  • The candidate’s parent(s) should be a permanent resident(s) of the State of West Bengal and have permanent address proof for the same.

General criteria for admission to Engineering and Technology Courses:

  • Must have passed the qualifying examination ie., Class 12 or 10+2 or its equivalent exam recognized by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other relevant Council/Board.
  • Must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics in a combination of one subject viz., Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Computer Science/Computer Application/Technical Vocational subject as compulsory subjects in regular class mode, with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all the three subjects as stated above.
  • Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40%in cases of candidates belonging to reserved categories e.g., SC/ST/OBC-A, OBC-D, PWD) in the above three subjects taken together.
  • Must have passed English subject with at least 30% marks in the qualifying examination.

General Criteria for admission into Pharmacy courses:

  • Must have passed the qualifying examination ie., Class 12 or 10+2 or its equivalent exam recognized by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other relevant Council/Board.
  • Must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (theory and practical put together) in all three subjects as mentioned above in regular class mode.
  • Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40%in cases of candidates belonging to reserved categories e.g., SC/ST/OBC-A, OBC-D, PWD) in the above three subjects taken together.
  • Must have passed English subject with at least 30% marks in the qualifying examination.

General Criteria for admission into 5-year Degree Course in Architecture:

  • Must have passed the qualifying examination (10+2) with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with 50% marks in aggregate and qualify in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture conducted by the Council of Architecture New Delhi.

General Criteria for admission into Marine Engineering:

  • As per the norms and standards of the Director General of Shipping, GOI, candidates must have passed the qualifying examination (10+2) of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized council/board in regular class mode with at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics took together with individual pass marks in each subject. A minimum of 50% marks must have been secured in English as a subject in the qualifying examination.

General Criteria for admission into Mining Engineering:

  • In addition to the same criteria mentioned under Engineering/Technology above, candidates must not have color blindness/unpopularity.

Candidates must have been residing in West Bengal continuously for the last 10 years or more as of 31.12.2021.  or parents of the candidate must be permanent residents of the State of West Bengal having a permanent residential address in WB. Certificates to be submitted and issued by the Competent Authority alone will be accepted.  Candidates must check the official website and select the right format for obtaining a certificate accordingly

Institute Specific WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2025

WBJEE eligibility criteria for engineering colleges in terms of academic qualifications differ from each other for some specific Universities. The table below has institute-specific WBJEE eligibility criteria to help candidates prepare well for admission at the college of their choice.

Candidate must have qualified 10+2 or equivalent exam with PCM with at least 60% marks aggregate, which is 45% for reserved category and 30% marks in English.

For five-year degree course in Architecture

Apart from above eligibility criteria, the candidate must qualify NATA or Paper-II of the JEE Main 2021 to secure a seat in Architecture course.

The University of Calcutta

Eligibility for all available courses except “Jute & Fibre Technology”:

 

10+2 or any equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with minimum 60% marks aggregate and at least 30% marks in English. Candidates from SC/ST/ OBC/ PwD need to get a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

 

For Jute & Fiber Technology Course

10+2 or any equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with at least 45% marks aggregate and at least 30% marks in English. The requirement is 40% for ST/SC/OBC/PWD candidates.

The West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences B.Tech.(Dairy Technology) Course

·         Candidate must have passed 10+2 exam with individual pass marks in both theory and practical with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as a compulsory subject in regular class mode from recognized board/institute to get admission in B.Tech (Dairy Technology) course.

·         He/she should have scored minimum 50% aggregate marks (40% for reserved category candidates) in PCM with English.

The Neotia University

All B. Tech. Courses except Marine Engineering:

·         The application should have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam with PCM as compulsory subject with 60% marks aggregate.

B.Tech. in Marine Engineering:

· In order to get admission in the marine engineering course at the Neotia University through WBJEE 2021, the candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam with PCM as compulsory subject with minimum 60% marks aggregate and at least 50% in English.
