JEE Advanced 2024: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Tirupati is one of the 23 IITs in India and was established in 2015. Over the last two years, the institute has been placed within the top 100 in the engineering category in the Education Ministry’s National Institutional Ranking Framework. In the engineering category, IIT Tirupati is placed in the 59th rank in NIRF 2023.
IIT Tirupati did not rank in the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings in 2024 and QS World University Rankings in 2024.
The institute was ranked at the 56th rank in NIRF 2022 but in 2023, the engineering category rank dropped to rank 56th. IIT Tirupati did not rank in NIRF research or overall categories over the past five years.
IIT Tirupati has been ranked 59th in the engineering category of NIRF 2023 rankings by scoring 75.50 in teaching, learning and resources out of 100, 18.49 in research and professional practice out of 100, 62.71 in graduation outcomes (GO), 58.15 in outreach and inclusivity and 32.52 in perception out of 100.
IIT Tirupati is the first among the third phase of IITs, announced in 2014. IIT Tirupati started functioning with the support of its mentoring institute, IIT Madras, in the academic year of 2015-16.
The academic programme in IIT Tirupati was launched in August 2015 by admitting students in the BTech programme in the fields of civil engineering, computer science and engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.
The research programmes – MS and PhD – programmes started from the 2017 academic year. The BTech in chemical engineering and MTech programmes in mechanical, electrical and computer science disciplines were launched in August 2018. While the MSc programme in mathematics started in August 2019, the Master of Public Policy (MPP) programme was launched in 2022 at IIT Tirupati.
