CAT 2024: IIM-Calcutta warns students against fake websites

The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) on August 29 issued an alert for CAT 2024 aspirants against some fraudulent websites impersonating to be the official CAT 2024 website.

IIM Calcutta on Thursday issued a release stating that the “CAT Centre has been made aware of a fraudulent website posing as a website for CAT registration, targeting applicants and soliciting personal information.”

“We urge all applicants and stakeholders to be cautious and visit only our official website and not fall prey to spurious or malicious websites engaging in pharming/phishing that resemble the official CAT website,” the official release alerted students.

The CAT official website is iimcat.ac.in and no other website should be consulted for CAT application and admit cards. To ensure they are accessing the right website, students should keep in mind the following points:

— Always verify the URL and ensure it is the official website for CAT.

— Be cautious of unsecured websites asking for personal information or payments.

— Report any suspicious activity to the CAT help desk at cat2024_helpdesk@iimcal.ac.in

Common Admission Test 2024 (CAT 2024) will be a computer-based test which will be held on November 24 in three sessions. The registration process for CAT 2024 started at 10 am on August 1 and will conclude at 3 pm on September 13. Candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a mobile phone number throughout the selection process.

Once the registration process is completed, IIM Calcutta will release admit cards between November 5 and 24. After the exam in November, the result for CAT 2024 is expected release in the second week of January 2025.

CAT is a prerequisite for admission to various postgraduate and Fellow/Doctorate programmes of IIMs. CAT scores are allowed to be used by listed non-IIM member institutions. A list of such institutions is provided on the CAT website. IIMs have no role in the selection process of non-IIM institutions. Last year, a total of 91 non-IIM institutions also used the CAT score scores to grant admission to aspirants into various management programmes.
