The Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT) is a government institute located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1967 as a research and development laboratory in the Modern Rice Mill complex of Thanjavur Co-operative Marketing Federation (TCMF) at Tiruvarur. For 35 years, the institute has evolved as a National Level Institute with the name of Indian Institute Crop Processing Technology (IICPT). Recently in 2017, the institute was rechristened as the Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT).
The institute is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and is approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). IIFPT offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in food processing technology and allied areas. The institute has modern infrastructure and facilities to support academic and research activities, including well-equipped laboratories, a library, medical care, sports facilities, and a food processing business incubation centre.
