Amravati university was established in the year 1983 by bifurcating Nagpur University. Amravati University was later renamed as Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. This University is located in Amravati District of Maharashtra, India. This university was established to cater to the academic and educational needs of surrounding five districts of Vidarbha viz. Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldana and Washim. The university is home to 20 post-graduate departments offering 25 courses in different disciplines with 127 affiliated colleges.
