Punjabi University is a public university located in Patiala, Punjab, India. This university was established in the year 1962 with a motto to promote Punjabi language and its culture. Later on, it became multi-disciplined University. Punjabi University has 278 colleges affiliated colleges and 13 constituent colleges spread out across the state of Punjab, in the districts of Patiala, Barnala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Sangrur, Bathinda, Mansa, Mohali, Rupnagar and Faridkot. The University offers diploma, graduate and postgraduate courses in Humanities, Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, Law, Fine Arts, Computer Science and Business Management. The university attracts students not only from north India but also from many African and Gulf Nations as well. Punjabi University is the only second university in the world after Hebrew University in Israel, established as a linguistic university.
