The University of Kalyani was established in the year 1960. The university was established on 1 November 1960 by the Kalyani University Act 1960 of the state of West Bengal. Kalyani University is a state-government administered, affiliating and research university located in Kalyani, Nadia district of West Bengal, India. The University of Kalyani has been awarded A grade and was ranked 86 among universities in India by the NIRF in 2018. It offers courses at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. 44 colleges, 18 in Nadia, 25 in Murshidabad and 1 in North 24 Parganas, are affiliated to Kalyani University. Colleges are independent from the university but they follow the course curriculum of the university.
