Located in Burla, Sambalpur, Odisha, India, Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology was originally known as the University College of Engineering, Burla. This legendary University is named after Veer Surendra Sai, the great Indian freedom fighter.  It is a state institution. It is the oldest engineering college in Odisha, established in 1956. Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch), Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Science (M.Sc.), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), Master in Computer Application (MCA), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) are just a few of the academic programs that the university offers at various levels.

While maintaining traditional principles, VSSUT offers its students state-of-the-art educational facilities. It also leverages its strong industrial connections to shape young, gifted people who can compete on a global scale. The University's engineering programs are all approved by the AICTE. A QIP Center is available at the university for Ph.D. programs in engineering. Admissions to different B. Tech and B.Arch programs are made based on the JEE Main merit list. The University manages admissions for its different M.Tech, M.Sc., and M.Phil programs. However, the government of Odisha administers the Orissa Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE), which is used to admit students to the B.Tech (LE) and MCA programs.
