Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) is a multidisciplinary research institute situated in Jakkur, a locality north of Bangalore, India. It is relatively young yet well-known around the Globe.
Our mandate is to pursue and promote world-class research and training at the frontiers of Science and Engineering covering broad areas ranging from Materials to Genetics.

JNC ASR, Bengaluru is a Research Institute and hence the emphasis is on Research Programmes. So, all research programs offered by JNC ASR, Bengaluru are popular.
Candidates shall be selected for Interviews for admission into Integrated Ph.D. Physical Science and Integrated Ph.D. Chemical Science Programmes based on the score obtained in Joint Admission Test (JAM) for the Master’s Programme. For Ph.D. in Biological Science Programme will be shortlisted based on Online examination (MCQs) and will be invited to appear for Personal Interview. The Final selection to the Integrated Ph.D. Programmes shall be based on the performance in the Personal Interview.
Applicants have a minimum of 55% marks in the UG programme in any branch of Science with Chemistry as a major subject. Further, applicants must be qualified the JAM (Joint Admissions Test for Masters.
Candidates who are qualified in JAM shall be invited for an interview directly. The final selection shall be based on the performance of the Candidates in the Personal Interview (PI).
This is a one-year with two semesters Programme intended for Candidates who have completed their Postgraduate Degree in Science (M.Sc). Teachers from Colleges and Universities with M.Sc., degree as the basic qualification also eligible to apply.

A. Yes, candidates admitted to various research programmes are eligible for grant of Scholarships in accordance with the CSIR/UGC Norms. At present, Junior Research Fellowship (Ph.D) of Rs.25,000/- per month and Senior Research Fellows in Science (Next three years) get Rs.28,000/0 per month.
Q. What are the prospects of a student after completing Ph.D.?
A. Students get suitable placements in R&D Departments and Establishments, Teaching jobs I India Universities and post-doctoral research in US and Western Europe or placements in Big Corporates.

A. Personal Interview is conducted by a team of Faculty Members of 4-5 in number to test the skills of the candidate to match with grade/marks obtained in the qualifying examination and the suitability to the Programme applied for. Candidates shall not be asked questions on topics that they are not familiar. The interview will be conducted in English or any other Indian Language.
Q. Does JNCASR provide transport facility?
A. JNCASR runs buses to the IISc campus daily. On weekdays, these buses are runs for every 1.5 hours.
Q. Does JNCASR provide Hostel facility?
A. Yes, there are more than 250 rooms in Hostels at Jakkur Campus with separate floors for men and women, with in-house mess.
