The Government of Odisha established the International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar in 2006. It is intended to become a premier centre for information technology and other fields. The Odisha government converted the Institute into a unitary university on January 20, 2014. B.Tech is offered in the IIIT Bhubaneswar UG degree, whereas M.Tech is offered in the IIIT Bhubaneswar PG course. At the doctorate level, the IIIT Bhubaneswar also provides a Ph.D.
Specializations in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, and Electronic and Telecommunication are available in the IIIT Bhubaneswar B.Tech course, but the M.Tech program only provides Computer Science and Engineering as a specialization. Only full-time courses are available at IIIT Bhubaneshwar.
