The marine market of the future is expected to be in India, where the sector has constantly demonstrated rapid expansion. To spur this expansion by closing the knowledge gap within the sector, the Gujarat Maritime Board established Gujarat Maritime University (GMU). The Gujarat Private Universities Act of 2009 authorized the establishment of Gujarat Maritime University, Ahmedabad.
