Established in 2009 under the National Law University Odisha Act, 2008, the National Law University Odisha (NLUO) is recognized by the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission (UGC). NLUO offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral law programs, including BA LLB, BBA LLB, LLM in Corporate and Commercial Law, LLM in Constitutional and Administrative Law, and PhD.
Admissions to the BA LLB, BBA LLB, and LLM programs are based on performance in the CLAT/CLAT PG entrance exams. The BA LLB and BBA LLB programs span five years, while the LLM program is a two-year course. PhD candidates must pass a university-conducted entrance exam and present their research proposal.
In a relatively brief period, NLUO has distinguished itself as an institution providing socially relevant legal education. Learning from the strengths and weaknesses of other law schools, NLUO has charted a structured path towards achieving excellence.
