The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, was established by the State Legislature of Punjab through the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab Act, 2006. The university's lush and expansive campus at Sidhuwal, Bhadson Road, Patiala, spans 50 acres.
RGNUL received approval from the Bar Council of India (BCI) in July 2006 and is registered with the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The university offers an integrated B.A.
L.L.B. (Hons.) course, L.L.M., and Ph.D. in various specializations. It is a public university, approved by the UGC and BCI, and accredited with an 'A' grade by NAAC.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, ranked RGNUL first among the cleanest Higher Educational Institutions in the Swachh Campus Rankings (2019) in the category of Government Residential Universities.

The facilities provided by a university play an important role in helping students decide whether or not they want to enrol in a particular university. Hostel- Eleven hostel blocks (6 for boys and 5 for girls) are available at RGNUL. All these blocks are equipped with separate mess/dining facilities. The total covered area by these hostels is 3,34,978 sq. feet (1,92,614 sq. feet for boys and 1,42,364 sq. feet for girls). All the hostels, along with the attached mess, are fully air-conditioned. Each hostel is equipped with an aqua guard and a water cooler to ensure a supply of purified drinking water 24/7. Proper hygiene and sanitation facilities are maintained in all the hostels, and housekeeping services are available around the clock.
Guest House- The guest house building is a double-story structure, covering an area of 29,550 sq. feet. There are four suites on the ground floor (with provisions for four more suites for future extension) and 28 rooms. The guest house has a spacious dining hall with a kitchen, VIP lounge, mini conference hall, and waiting area.
Computer Lab- The university has established two fully air-conditioned computer labs with 70 computers having the latest configurations and high-speed internet at the RGNUL New Campus, Sidhuwal, Patiala. The first lab is equipped with 64 HP computers, and the second lab has 16 Dell All-in-One computers. The Dell lab is established under the UGC scheme for establishing/upgrading computer centres in universities. These labs are also equipped with the latest Windows and Microsoft Office software.
Health centre- The health of its students and staff is of utmost importance to the university. The Health and Counselling Centre has been established to facilitate treatment for general ailments, minor injuries, and referral services. The Health Centre also looks after the social, preventive, and environmental health of the campus.
Gym- Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, has a state-of-the-art fitness centre. The gym is exclusively designed for the students, faculty, and other members of the RGNUL fraternity. It is well-equipped with cardio machines like treadmills, cross trainers, spin bikes, and weight training machines. Occasionally, other health-related activities like yoga and aerobics are conducted, with a large number of students and faculty members participating. Professionally trained personal trainers and coaches, for boys and girls separately, are available to guide the workout regimes of the gym members.
Sports- The RGNUL campus offers a variety of sports facilities that cater to different interests and preferences. There are well-maintained football grounds, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and badminton courts. Additionally, there are facilities for indoor games like table tennis, chess, and carrom. The campus also has a fully-equipped gym with state-of-the-art equipment for students who prefer to work out indoors.
