Banaras Hindu University’s (BHU) MCA alumni from the 1997 to 2001 batches have donated Rs 5 lakh to establish a new scholarship. A delegation of 14 alumni met with Vice-Chancellor Prof Sudhir Kumar Jain on Thursday and presented the donation cheque. The donation will be used to institute a scholarship for computer science students.
During the meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, the alumni praised the Pratidana initiative launched by BHU. They reaffirmed their commitment to BHU’s progress, offering to contribute wherever needed. Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the positive transformation is visible in the student’s personalities and approaches to their work.
Meanwhile, on September 6, the University announced that the varsity has undertaken several initiatives aimed at enhancing student well-being, leadership development, and counseling services, along with new scholarships.
He revealed that 15 PhD scholars were granted approvals to conduct research at international institutions overseas and 23 to do so within India. Additionally, 203 PhD students have received financial support to present their research at international conferences. The Teach For BHU initiative has benefited 125 PhD students, while 320 Master’s students have been awarded Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Internships.
