The non-profit, non-minority Sri Sai Ram Institute of Technology in Chennai was founded in 2008 by MJF. Ln. Leo Muthu, Chairman of Sapthagiri Educational Trust. 

It started off with just four departments—EEE, ECE, IT, and CSE—but it has since grown tremendously, offering eight undergraduate engineering programs, two postgraduate programs, and one postgraduate management program. 

An independent institution, Sri Sai Ram Institute of Technology is one of the esteemed establishments that has been a ten-year marvel in the field of education. In many ways, this non-profit, non-minority institution benefits from the same fantastic chances as many of the top professional colleges in the nation. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has granted the institution approval and it is associated with Anna University.  It has received a "A+" accreditation from the NAAC Executive Committee, with a CGPA of 3.30. Furthermore, the Ministry of Human Resource and Developments, Government of India, has included it in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for the year 2018-2019 (across all of India) with a bandwidth of 150 to 200.

The SSIT campus is well-equipped with a range of student amenities. Among the amenities the institute offers are: 

Health Center- Sri Sai Ram Institute of Technology has a well-equipped health center. For male and female students, there is a separate inpatient facility. In a private, friendly setting, the health center offers top-notch medical services. The facility features four beds and a well-stocked medication cabinet. All academics, staff, and students can receive free, high-quality medical care at the health center, which is staffed by three doctors and a healthcare assistant.

Hostel- A home away from home with separate accommodations for boys and girls, with 20529 square meters dedicated to housing 293 boys and 208 girls as students. Positive learning is encouraged by the cool, pleasant, green, and eco-friendly atmosphere provided by the thoughtfully constructed buildings and their surroundings. It creates a vibrant atmosphere. 

Library- Approximately 800 square meters of air-conditioned space, along with Reference, Periodicals, and Stack areas, are dedicated to housing the library. The entire space is fully computerized. Right now, for the advantage of the faculty and students, over 32669 volumes, 8311 title books, and reference volumes are stacked. A well-known media resource center is also there. Students are encouraged to peruse the stack area in the library, which operates on an open-access basis. There are about 120 specialized International & National periodicals that the library subscribes to. 

Transportation- The College is easily accessible from Tambaram Railway Station by the state-operated transport service. In addition, the college owns a fleet of 136 buses and these buses operate along nearly 115 routes in and around Chennai.
